Shine Bright is the fourth book released by sisters Kristen Clark and Bethany Beal (née. Baird) from Girl Defined Ministries, and I have read it. Personally, I am not a big fan of devotional books, but I am fond of this one. I recommend all devotionals as companions to personal bible study, not as a replacement. Fortunately, the authors highlight this shared view early in the book, which made me feel comfortable as I read.

Unlike the first 3 books by Clark & Beal, this book is aimed at a younger audience. I got that impression because of the shorter chapters. Each chapter reads at less than five minutes. However, if you read the scripture passages and journaled alongside the book, it could take ten to fifteen minutes. This short reading time aids in arguing that it is well written, they don't go on and on unnecessarily.

Furthermore, Clark and Beal clearly read the bible regularly, and it is obvious, which is excellent. They also clearly know what they want to teach through their ministry and publications. Consequently, a clear and concise message is what is given.

Moreover, this book is beautiful, the cover design is stunning. It looks very pretty adorning my bookshelf, especially with Clark and Beal's other books by its side. The publishers have clearly put effort into designing the book to appeal to a young, female audience. As a lover of sunshine yellow, I do enjoy it.

The tagline to this book is “60 Days To Becoming A Girl Defined By God”. This thesis is well outlined. I can tell you, it describes the book written inside the cover. The tagline is also a clever tie-in to Clark and Beal's first book, Girl Defined. I know the reason for the naming choice. Girl Defined want to support women to place their faith, identity and security in being God’s beloved daughter. They also want their readers to know that they are a beautiful creation, and a representative of Christ on this earth. I appreciate how the book reminds me of this.

Finally, I do enjoy the camaraderie within this book. In the very first sentence they remind the reader that we are all sisters in Christ. I find that to be sweet because this book was written by Texans, who are literally on the other side of the world. However, I feel as though Clark and Beal really welcome every girl into their sisterhood.

Overall, I give this book 4/5 stars, I enjoyed it. The authors have high standards when it comes to what they publish, and it shows. The book is well written, well researched and based on biblical truth. I recommend it.

I had the privilege of being on the launch team for this book. However, I still bought two copies of the book, one for myself and one for a friend. I purchased them before my acceptance onto the team. Nevertheless, I will still say that I received a copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of reviewing it honestly.
